In order to be successful in marketing our services or products we have to make a strong first impression. Successful people have busy days, and you need to be precise and concise to get their attention.

Our world used to revolve around one to one interactions, but with our progression through print and internet, including video and audio presentations, we have built a world of global communication at the click of a button. One of the easiest ways to harness the power of the Internet is through article writing.

Your life experience can be your goldmine of ideas and expertise that can help others. Even if you have done nothing with your life to this point you can write about it, sharing with others the impact your choices have made in your life. No matter what you write about keep it focused and simple, and stick to one point.

Pick one idea for your article, and stick to it. If you are a teacher you can write about the challenges you have faced with grading, and even if you don’t have the answers you can share your questions. Give your readers a chance to find the answers for you, and turn your idea into a dialog.

Your title is far too important to be overlooked. Choose a title that fits with your articles so your readers do not feel betrayed. Turn a title into a question that capture the readers attention so they feel compelled to read your article so they can understand what you meant.

Your article is a form of teaching. With this thought in mind, try to keep your article as simple as possible. If you give too much you risk losing the attention of your reader. If you give them an answer that they can understand you empower your reader and secure your place as a good authority.

It doesn’t matter if you have a PhD or a high school education - we all have something to share. You can make a positive first impression and show others that you are worth listening to through the articles you write.
